The animation industry is huge & growing. Arena fulfills the demand for trained professionals in animation, multimedia, gaming & web designing.
Animation, gaming & web design professionals work on full-length animation movies, create TV commercials, education CDs, games for Internet, mobile, PC or consoles (like PlayStation or Xbox), work in the advertising industry or as web designers in various companies.
The Price Waterhouse Coopers’ report on the Indian Entertainment & Media Industry estimated the Indian animation industry at Rs. 11 billion in 2006. It is forecast to grow at a rate of 22% per year & reach Rs. 29 billion by 2011. The Indian gaming industry was estimated at Rs. 2 billion in 2006 & is forecast to reach Rs. 28.5 billion by 2011 - growing at 68% per year.
Even at these impressive growth forecasts, the Indian animation & gaming industry will account for less than 2% of the worldwide market in 2010, clearly indicating a significantly larger opportunity.
There are about 300 animation companies employing 12,000 people in India. Nearly 3,000 freelancers are working in this industry.
A career in animation means being a part of one of the most ‘happening’ industries of our time. Animation & Internet touch every facet of modern life.
Arena offers job placement assistance to its students.
Creative Minds is Arena’s flagship inter-centre competition for students of animation & multimedia. The events are held all over the country from time to time. For a month prior to the event, students from Arena centres across the region work on a selected project.
Their work is judged by a panel comprising industry experts & Arena faculty. Shortlisted works by all students are showcased during the event. The students get an insight into how the industry works & learn how to work as part of a team within strict deadlines. They also get the opportunity to interact with industry professionals & to showcase their work to them.
Perspectives is a series of seminars where professionals from the animation community share their knowledge, thoughts, views & experiences with Arena students. In the recent past, Perspectives has invited international animation gurus such as Chris Webster & Tim Mostert to share information on career options in animation, VFX & gaming.
Arena conducts workshops on handling job interviews & aptitude tests. These workshops focus on developing useful skills such as resume writing, presentation skills & time management.
Arena students are skilled in animation, graphic designing, web designing, gaming, audio-video editing, special effects & E-learning. Arena has placed students with studios both in India & abroad:
From time to time, Arena organizes job fairs & campus placements to connect studios/ companies with students. Students are interviewed & often get spot offers for jobs with these companies.
